Fostering True Christian Education
I’ve just returned from a visit to a village on the outskirts of the town of Fada, Southeast of the capital city. We drove a total of six hours each way over some horrendous roads. There was no dodging the potholes. We just took it slow and bounced right through them.
It was worth the drive. We went to visit a little school started by an EE-SIM church pastor, Pastor Traore.
BFO was created to bring the gospel to villages through our work with Christian Education in elementary schools. Up to this point, this has been done through the schools our donors have helped us build in the villages of Gobila and Wedkiungo. Our desire has been to create a model of Christian education that could also be used to help other Christian schools improve the effectiveness of sharing the gospel through education.
A fellow collaborator in Christian education named Souandamba made the introduction. I brought our BFO senior teachers with me, Eric and Philippe. The Pastor, school Director and teachers welcomed us warmly, blessing us with their gift of hospitality. We visited under a tree to rest after the long drive, then spent some time in each classroom, while the Pastor’s wife was preparing a delicious Burkina dish of rice with sauce and chicken. We were treated to cokes, and they sent us home with two chickens and a great supply of their local honey.
I’m excited to see where the Lord leads, and praying it includes future collaboration with these fellow servants!
